NDSSJL – Round 2

A very successful Round 2 of the NDSSJL held here at Coxleigh on the 1st May.

It was a grey start to the day but the sun did come out in the afternoon. The first winners of the day in the 50cm sponsored by The Wright Property came from the Chumleigh Cubs representing Chumleigh Primary School – with only 3 team members they needed to deliver and they did with all 3 members jumping double clears. Well done to Zac Flanagan, Ella Otto and Morgan Callister. The Individual winner came from home turf Bethany Gay on Rocky Robin representing Shirwell Primary School, producing a very quick double clear, over a second faster then 2nd place Katie Holton from Braunton Academy.

The 60cm sponsored by Barnstaple Martial Arts – was turn for West Buckland school to show their hand, with impeccable rounds from all 4 riders producing double clears in exceptional times. Clear Team winners Charlie Pocock, Daisy Cotton, Louise Cotton and also individual winner Katie Miles.

Mullacott Quads kindly sponsored the busiest class of the day, the 70cm, which had over 45 entries and was won by Park 1. Riders Ellie Dawson, Bethany Robinson, Caitie Streete and Molley Mellet completed a fault free first round, drawn first they made the sensible decision to aim for good steady clear rounds. Their efforts paid off when they went on to win the class. Lilli Fiddes went on to take the individual win with a very fast time of 25.03.

It was a worth while day out for Park 1, when they went on to take the win in the Barnstaple Equestrian Supplies 80cm as well! South Molton Community Colleges’ team Storm were a very close second – with a great time but an unfortunate costly fence. Megan Cole and Something Nice won the 80cm and 90cm individually. Setting the standard with 2 double clears to match her wins from round 1. They are proving to be the rider to catch on the score board.

Well done to everyone involved. A great day!

The next round of Show Jumping will be on Saturday 24th June. Entries Close on Monday 19th June
